PostSubject: Grennendia Myths   Wed Oct 14, 2009 1:34 pm

I will write the Grennendian myths, legends, and folklore here.
If you want to write a story feel free, and PM it to me in full. If I approve it I'll put in on here!

To begin with, The Creation Story, as told by humans:

In the emptiness of space was Empartheus. He was a true celestial body; the biggest star in existence. Mighty was his power and his glory was unmatched. But he went unfulfilled.
Eventually, he decided that the universe was empty; devoid of any light, and laughter, and sound. So, he dragged the rock from space, and told it to circle him, and that he would make it great. The rock, of course obeyed; and soon it found water on it’s surface. It was amazed, and begged Empartheus to do more. So Empartheus made the land, and the grass, and the trees. And all of space was amazed. But it was not enough for Empartheus.
He made the animals, and the birds, and the fish. And for a long time, the rock, now the planet which houses Grennendia, was happy.
However, eventually Empartheus grew tired of the loudness of these animals, and was sad that they were unintelligent, and still there was no laughter, no music, in the world.
So he made the Lorians, the Deva, and the Norn. And, for a time, they and Empartheus were happy, and so was all of Grennendia.
But then Empartheus once more grew angry. There was music, and laughter, and literature; but these were flawed.
So Empartheus created humans, and only now was his purpose fulfilled. Now he was happy. And so it has been, since the beginning.

The tale of the Chest of Darkness:
When Empartheus made the races, some legends say that Empartheus was happy ever after.
But others say that Empartheus thought that even humans were flawed, and decided to steal their sin, their badness, hatred and anger, and lust and jealousy. Then he locked them away in a great diamond chest, and put them in the furthermost dimension. And for a time, all of Grennendia was perfect.
But Apoktalos the Spiteful, resented Empartheus’ success. He wanted it to be claimed as his own; for the races of Grennendia to worship him alone.
So he stole the chest, and in returning it to Grennendia he added a few things; Lies, Spite, and War.
And though Empartheus caught him, punished him, and took back the chest, he was unable to take the chest away again, for it contained so much evil that it had a life of it’s own. So he locked it in a great temple, and bound it’s own life into itself; and the life of the evil was named Chaos.

The Weapon of The Earth
In Forretra a myth goes around, stating that a weapon was made many years ago from the soil we stand on,the heat of the sun and the magic of the God. This weapon was not a weapon, but a weaponS.It appears as an ordinary steel gauntlet, but can transform into any weapon the user can think of. A pair for it was made soon after, less perfect, but only a fragment less powerful.
What happened to these,is a mystery.
Some say they were passed down through generations, kept secret so as to not cause a fight over the owner.
Others that they were destroyed, melted in the volcanoes of Forretra,to forever save the world of their power.

The Hands of God
In the ancient times, before Apoktalos stole the Chest and the world was perfect, there was a group of people. The world was perfect, and organized- it was so because these people made the Rules, as dictated by Empartheus- Do Not Kill, Do Not Maim, Do Not Steal, among others.
These people were the Hands of God.
Each took a title unto themselves; a title derived from the colours that make up the world and the universe.
The title was passed down, from the Hand to their apprentice. In time, they faded from knowledge and memory; but they are still there, secretly manipulating events to guide the two great empires. When a terrible infection spread across Forretra, twas the Hands that sealed it from the mainland.
Some of the Hands deviated from the path; they lost their urge to guide and protect, and instead turned to destruction and power.
Most of the Hands title's are unknown. The most famous was the Red Knight, who defended Corbep against entire armies, and was killed by a Norn. Presumably the Norn did not know that the Red Knight had declared that only someone able of besting him in combat could ever have his title.
Another well known, for much of the time when Ao Seruld and Corbep were one empire, was the White Monk. A small, weak, but ingenious man, who stopped several wars and was renowned across Grennendia. He died, and nobody knew to who he had passed his title.
The only one known to have strayed from the Hands' path was the Golden Mask, the one who came dangerously close to destroying all of Grennendia.
The several others are unknown, but wherever something important happens in Grennendia, it's a fair bet that a Hand is not far.

A point by the way;We are unlikely to post and tell you when this has been updated. Most of the time updates will be secret, possibly foreshadowing future plots,or just for a bit of lulz.
