Anyone had any near death experiences?

I once went scuba diving and we were practicing getting correct buoyancy using the BCD (inflatable jacket) underwater (duh!). We used the normal way to inflate, hitting a button that uses air from our tanks, once then went on to if an emergency should arise, the button doesn't work/ run out of air. So you had to blow into a tube that would then inflate your jacket, when it was my go I (stupidly) let go of the respirator and grabbed the tube with both hands and blew into it. After I finished blowing (hah hah get over it) and gained buoyancy I realised I couldn't breathe. I started to run out of air fast as I'd got rid of a lot of it before, I swallowed about 4-6 mouthfuls of seawater, not nice, and my stomach started to hurt a lot. Fortunately the instructor put the respirator in my mouth but I forgot to press a button to remove the water in the tube connecting to the tank, and swallowed water again. After more panicking I calmed pressed the button and breathed. At the time, very scary, looking back on it I think god what a stupid poop lets go of his only source of air what and idiot.

Not really near death but if I'd not composed myself after that last mouthful of water, it could've been worse. Thank f*** we practiced in the pool before! Razz

Anyone else had similar experiences. Question

I've not had any real near-death experiences, but I've had one that might have come pretty close.

My lovely little wolf friend who goes everywhere with me was the basis of this incident. I was being a careless fool myself, and at one point I had stepped on her tail. She wasn't too pleased about that. Still, she got better and went about her business. Time and time again it happened, by accident (She loves running under me and stuff, real playful little darling.) and she was getting fed up. So it was one evening that she set about punishing me for my foolhardiness. She managed to trip me up and she bit straight into my thigh (and let's not forget, wolf/dog/canine jaws lock for extra damage.) She ripped out some of the tendons and nerves in my leg, set about damaging other parts of my body and left me hospitalised for about a month. Naturally, I never ignored her again. My father spoke of having her put down for the behaviour. I told the fool that if he dared to punish her with death for a justifiable act I'd punish him too. Severely.

Now, my wolfie friend has forgiven me and we live peacefully together. I just wish I had never angered her in the first place. Friendships with such wondrous animals take years, and I imagine inside she still isn't completely my friend.

So, this incident was caused by me, in many cases. I probably won't forgive myself for ignoring her, even though she seems to have forgiven me. My father still thinks she did it because she's a savage creature, but what the hell does he know? He wasn't the one reading about animals for nine years. Still, humans are idiots and my father is no less human than anyone else...

That's probably the closest I have come to a near death experience. And she did hit me with all she had, so I expect I would have been very, very badly wounded by her, if she had not stopped by her own accord.

I still have a limp from where she punished me for my stupidity.

Salvanar, ooh painful! I hate the sight of blood, I'd never be a good doctor. I think your dad was trying to protects you, but I bet he doesn't know the wolf properly, so he can't have an understanding. I know what it's like to be close with an animal, me and my dog share a similar connection. One day I shall upload a picture of him...

Yeah, I can see that too.

It might seem severe on her part to want to kill me for an accident, but I would not blame her for doing so.

I've just got to remember not to step on Taldar's tail when he's three or four years old Razz

And Taldar is a Bengal Tiger....I imagine if I did step on his tail I would not be alive to tell the tale.

Thankfully he's just a cub ^^ got to work on making friends ^^

Well, I got one near death experience that I am willing to tell at the moment.
I was in my grandfather's truck and it was very snowey. VERY SNOWEY. Anyway, as we were driving along, the brakes stopped working and there was a very steep hill coming up. So we tried to stop but we couldnt and we went flying down the hill at full speed (around 60MPH) When we hit the bottom of this hill, the truck hit another vehicle which suffered the same fate. We went head first into this pickup and then straight into this ditch sideways. Aparently I got hit in the head with a chunk of metal from the pickup. I dunno I was knocked out. I also stopped breathing and the cab was filling with smoke fast. Granddad was able to pull me out of his truck but I had stopped breathing and I was in a state of Oblivion.
Also outside was very cold and I was apparently starting to freeze up. (I was'nt wearing any warm clothes) I woke up a bit later in an ambulance with a half frozen body and a killer headache. It could of been worse if the pickup driver did'nt know anything about medical.
Well, that's my story, believe it if you want. If ya don't want to, then that's your choice.

Cool story.

Not really near death but:

Once while on the isle of arran my halfbrother my dad and me were playing golf and on the first stroke I hit him in the tooth, it was smashed into tiny bits. Dad had to go to mainland for a few days and when we came back after the holiday he had an arrangement with one of the only dentists in the UK who could fix this, he promptly got very ill and had to go of work for several years. 3 and a half years after the incidence dad got his tooth fixed and now regularly smiles in photos!

I agree.
I haven't really had any near death experiences...

A pathectic story which is boring and you don't have to read.
I suppose when I was bout 8 I was climbing a small tree. Then my leg got stuck and I as stuck there sidways for about 20 minutes on my own. It was hardly any damage though.
I haven't broken any bones in my life..or I think been knocked out. What a lucky lad i am.

Well, another time I was helping my dad do a bit of logging (for the fire) and so, I climbed up this huge tree, to the top and when I stood on a branch, it snapped. I fell straight down. When I hit the ground, I was in ALOT of pain. I landed on rocks aswell so that hurt alot. Not really death experience but it could of been if I landed differently.

lucky

I can remember at a pub with ma friend there was a small park outside. There was a little house ment for little kids. Me and him climbed up a tree next to it and got up on the roof. It was about maybe 5 meters high. He then decided to ditch me and get back up on the tree, and the branch accidently snapped. Then I found my self slipping...fallling and I landed bum first.

Question Salv: Do your wolf and tiger live in the same house? I wonder what the wolf's reaction to the tiger was...

Anyway, two things on my part, both water.

Once when i was muuuch younger, only learnt to walk about a year before, we were at the coast, and toddled off, straight into the ocean over the side of the dock. My dad jumped in and saved me...I can't remember much of it, but i think i remember actually being in the water and thrashing about, though it might just be me imagining the experience.
The other one was when i was abotu 8, at a friends house. They had a pool, and a pool cover that toally covers the water.
Guess what happened.

Well I didn't realise the pool was there, so walked straight onto the cover, and fell into the pool. The cover then righted itself instantly, and from the outside it looked like nothing had happened, or so I'm told. And at this point in my life, I couldn't swim.
I can't actually remember how i got out of that one...I think maybe my friend dragged me out, but I'm not sure.

Taldar and Luna do indeed live together with me. Luna absolutely loves him (He's only a cub, afterall.) She loves him as much as she loves any member of the animal kingdom, and she is never far away. She protects him, although she can get overprotective, much to my misfortune. Taldar is very big now, about half her size. He's already strong enough to bash me over when I'm playing with him. I fear the raw power within that cat but I love him nonetheless. Luna seems more attentive towards him nowadays, possibly because she's realising what he is. I half expected Taldar to be strong and brave, but it turns out that the greatest cat on the planet is a bloody coward. Laughing Luna is dominant, she's always leading while he follows. It would seem my Tiger friend is a little shy.
